targeting Fundamentals Pathway

Developing the Expertise to Drive Precision Operations

This pathway provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the targeting process and the critical ISR support required for effective target development, execution, and combat assessment. While it does not provide official certification for weaponeering or collateral damage estimation (CDE), it serves as a critical foundation for personnel supporting targeting operations.

Courses Include

  • ISR 110 –  INTELLIGENCE DOCTRINE AND CAPABILITIES
  • CT 100  –  FOUNDATIONS OF CRITICAL THINKING & STRUCTURED ANALYSIS
  • ISR 100 – ISR FUNDAMENTALS
  • LDR 110 – FUNDAMENTALS FOR THE INTELLIGENCE PROFESSIONAL
  • TGT 110 – FUNDAMENTALS OF TARGETING
  • TGT 210 – TARGET DEVELOPMENT I
  • TGT 212 – TARGET CAPABILITIES ANALYSIS
  • TGT 213 – TARGET FORCE ASSIGNMENTS
  • TGT 215 – COMBAT ASSESSMENT
  • TGT 315 – TARGETING PROFESSIONAL

Pathway OUtcome

Graduates will be prepared to support the full targeting cycle, including target development, execution, and combat assessment, enhancing their ability to conduct precision ISR-driven targeting operations.

earn badges

Through Credly, individuals can earn verified digital badges that recognize their achievements, skills, and certifications in a secure and shareable format. These badges are issued by trusted organizations and serve as a portable credential that can be added to resumes, LinkedIn profiles, email signatures, and digital portfolios. Each badge includes metadata that validates the criteria required to earn it, ensuring transparency and credibility for employers, peers, and professional networks.

ISR110

This course introduces students to core intelligence doctrines and the capabilities that support ISR operations. It covers intelligence gathering, analysis, dissemination, and integration of ISR assets, with a focus on air operations and geospatial data. Practical exercises reinforce critical thinking and real-world application.

CT100

This course develops essential critical thinking and structured analysis skills for analysts. Students learn to synthesize data, identify biases, apply logic and argument mapping, and improve decision-making. Graduates gain foundational tools to enhance reasoning and analytical clarity.

ISR100

ISR 100 at ISR University is a beginner-level course covering intelligence gathering, analysis, and ISR asset use—designed for professionals supporting air ops and intelligence work.

LDR110

LDR 110 at ISR University is a 5-day course for new intelligence officers, building core skills in analysis, critical thinking, and mission support across various operational environments.

TGT110

This course introduces the foundational concepts and processes of targeting, including frameworks like D3A, F2T2EA, and Effects-Based Operations. Students learn to analyze, prioritize, and align targets with mission objectives, and conclude with a capstone exercise on targeting strategy.

TGT210

This course expands on targeting fundamentals by focusing on Phase 2 of the Targeting Cycle—Target System Analysis and Prioritization. Students learn to analyze and document potential targets aligned with mission objectives and conclude with a Target Systems Analysis Capstone.

TGT212

This course strengthens analysts’ ability to assess and apply appropriate capabilities against target critical elements. Students will explore vulnerability analysis, effects estimation, and feasibility assessment, with hands-on weaponeering exercises and a Capabilities Analysis Capstone.

TGT213

This course strengthens analysts’ ability to assess and apply appropriate capabilities against target critical elements. Students will explore vulnerability analysis, effects estimation, and feasibility assessment, with hands-on weaponeering exercises and a Capabilities Analysis Capstone.

TGT214

The TGT 214: Mission Planning and Force Execution course at ISR University is a 5-day program focused on dynamic targeting, mission planning, and force allocation. It explores how changing operational environments affect targeting and ends with a hands-on Dynamic Targeting Capstone Exercise.

TGT315

The TGT 315: Targeting Professional course at ISR University is a 5-day advanced program covering the full Targeting Cycle, including weaponeering, collateral damage, and battle damage assessment. Using frameworks like D3A, F3EAD, and EBO, students explore each stage of targeting and complete a final Capstone Exercise to apply their skills in real-world scenarios.
